.  The Gateway to College program is designed for young adults who have dropped out of high school or are significantly behind in credits for their age and not on track to graduate. This program is a national initiative brought to Flint through a partnership between Mott Community College and the Flint Community Schools. The program allows students to complete their high school diploma requirements on a college campus while simultaneously earning college credits towards a degree or certificate.
Gateway to College is a scholarship program that pays for college tuition and books and supportive services may be available.  This program follows the calendar and enrollment is open for Fall Semester, with classes starting September 4, 2018.

Eligible for Students who:
  • Are 16-24 years old
  • Live in Genesee County
  • Have dropped out of high school before earning a diploma
  • Age behind in high school credits for age and grade
  • Are motivated and willing to make a commitment to earn their high school diploma and progress toward a college degree.
Traditional high school is not for everyone.  Students can face challenges in their lives that make it difficult for them to complete high school.  Gateway to college exists to give students a second chance at completing their high school diploma.  A high school diploma is incredibly important to a student’s potential for a long-term job/career success; most highly desirable positions require education past high school.
